Then.....

In 1965, when the AERO VAC was first launched, the world of electronics and computing was a far cry from that of today.

Before the PC, the Oscilloscope and strip chart recorder were the instruments of display and data-logging. In this photo to the right, the AERO VAC included all of these together with vacuum system and sampling system in a temperature controlled oven.

"Computing power" was supplied by the operator as data interpretation required the use of the human brain!!

and Now.....

The 2001 version of the AERO VAC, aptly named the ODYSSEY embodies all the advantages of modern digital electronics and computing capability. Seen here, "flying through space", the Odyssey defies the trend to 'Black Box' units allowing full front panel control while also offering all the capabilities available using Encounter software running on a PC.

Some things never change, the fundamental operating principle of the AERO VAC remains the same. The magnetic sector has always been more rugged, accurate and stable than any other mass spectrometer.
